  1. Peterborough United Vs Manchester United (Friendly) Latest news: No Rooney, Carrick or Neville Ferguson also confirmed that neither Wayne Rooney nor Michael Carrick, who both missed Saturday's game with a virus, would not be considered for the clashes with Peterborough on Monday or Juventus 48 hours later, although they should both be fit to face Portsmouth in the Community Shield next Sunday. Meanwhile, skipper Gary Neville looks set to face Juventus after missing out on Saturday with a calf strain. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...3901661,00.html Sir Alex Confirms Strong Side Will Face Posh Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that he will be fielding a strong side in Monday's pre-season friendly against Peterborough United at London Road. Ferguson revealed that the squad will be similar to the one he fields in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's testimonial match against Espanyol at Old Trafford on Saturday. England stars Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick are expected to play on Saturday. Ferguson said: 'I can't be specific, but I will be bringing a very strong side. There will be few if any changes from the side that plays in the testimonial.'

  3. Ferguson hoping for tough workout The squad move on to Durban on Monday to prepare for the Vodacom Challenge match against Orlando Pirates. It will be United's second game of the tournament following the 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday. United came from behind to snatch the equaliser through midfielder Chris Eagles after the Chiefs had opened the scoring thanks to Jonathan Quartey's penalty. Ferguson is now expecting an action replay against the Pirates. He said: "It could be another difficult game but that is what we need. "I will expect the same commitment from my players as they showed on Saturday. They worked very hard." Eagles, 22, savoured the moment after making only three appearances for a side that won the Champions League and retained their Premier League title last season. If he has to move on - and that seems likely - he will do so with considerable reluctance. "I've been here since I was 14 and I have no plans to leave, " he said. "The manager is the main person I have to please and I respect him for what he has always done for me. "It was a good game and I was pleased with my efforts. I had some time against Aberdeen last week and really enjoyed it - I just love playing in the first team." Ferguson is keen for Rio Ferdinand to play some part after the England defender suffered a back spasm just before kick-off on Saturday and was not risked. Ferdinand is playing catch-up in pre-season after sitting out the friendly against Aberdeen. Ferguson wants to see the England star in action and added: "I will make some changes for the next match. "We have to give everyone some minutes on the clock, Rio Ferdinand in particular. "He missed the game at Aberdeen and is behind schedule in terms of games. "But I would like to think he will be fit to take part on Tuesday." Michael Carrick, who is carrying a knock, could also be available to face the Pirates while Wes Brown is expected to recover from a gashed ankle he sustained against the Chiefs. United will play their third and final game in the tournament on Saturday when they face either the Chiefs or the Pirates.
